Help a family evacuate from Gaza: Shareef Mery
Dear friends
My name is Sharif Abu Miri, and I am from Gaza, Palestine. I am writing this message with a lot of thought and concern. I am in desperate need of your help to bring me and my family (my mum, dad, two sisters Abeer and Ghadeer, and brothers abed-alrahman and Hosam) out of the dangerous situations in Gaza and find a safe place for us.
Your support is our only chance of keeping my family safe and well.
During the first month of the war, our home, where we had lived for over 25 years and where we held countless memories, was destroyed by intense bombings.
Additionally, our beautiful farm, where my father and I worked for more than 20years was also completely destroyed.
We lost everything and became homeless . This forced us to seek refuge in a temporary shelter, a school. Never in my dreams did I imagine we would experience such hardships - no food, no water, and no treatment for my sick mother, who suffers from muscle atrophy and diabetes.
For more than three months, we have shared a small amount of food and water with 3,000 others, along with just two toilets, in the temporary shelter. Suddenly, tanks started advancing towards our location, and bombings were constant. In order to survive, we made the decision to run away together. By the grace of God, we managed to escape, and now we reside in Rafah. Currently, my family of six is living in a small tent without the most basic essential items required to sustain life.
We face death on a daily basis due to the bombings, diseases, and exorbitant prices of food. For instance, a chicken costs $40, a kilo of potatoes is $15, and tomatoes are $10, among other inflated prices.
Please, do not leave us here. We look older than we are. We do not deserve to experience what we have been through and continue to face. You are our last and only hope to help us escape this dire situation and reach Egypt. The cost of crossing the Rafah border into Egypt is $6,000 for each member of my family, totaling $36,000. Additionally, we require $5,000 to cover the expenses of food, water, and basic necessities.
I have never asked for help in this manner before, but it seems like our only chance for survival. You are our last and only hope. Please, do not leave us to perish here.
